LAHORE, May 16 (TNS): The Punjab government is utilising all its energies to ensure protection of heritage in the country. This was stated by Lahore Museum Additional Director Naushaba Anjum while addressing a ceremony at the auditorium of the Museum in connection with the International Museum Day on Tuesday.
She said that setting up of museum in different departments was a good omen and the establishment of National History Museum and The Army Museum in the provincial capital were positive steps for promotion of tourism.
Lahore Museum Keeper Painting Uzma Usmani said that Lahore Museum was organising various programmes on museum education. Lahore Museum Research Officer Ahtesham Aziz Chaudhry said that Lahore Museum has its own uniqueness among various museums.
Later, Lahore Museum Director Humayun Mazhar told the media that purpose of observing the International Museum Day was to highlight the importance of museums. He said, “Lahore Museum is the custodian of centuries old cultural heritage. ” He said that in developed countries museums set up in various departments actually portray the picture of achievements made by the departments.
