Srinagar, July 7 (TNS): Expecting a restive scene on the first anniversary of Burhan Wani’s Shahadat, Indian authorities have decided to suspend internet services during the protests called by Hurriyat.
Hurriyat has called for protests from July 8 to 13. Police has asked internet service providers to block all social media sites or shut down their services in occupied Kashmir from 10 pm on Thursday night till further orders in view of the Hurriyat programme.
“In view of the apprehensions of misuse of internet services by anti-national elements, which is likely to cause deterioration in law and order situation, you are directed to block all social media sites,” the order reads.
Meanwhile, Indian authorities have slapped Public Safety Act on a South Kashmir’s religious preacher and shifted him to outside Kashmir Jail. Mufti Shabir Ahmed Qasmi, a resident of Khiram village of Anantnag district is the principal Darul Uloom Zia-ul-Quran at Hugam Bijbehara.
