Extortionists sentenced to 36 years rigorous imprisonment

PESHAWAR, May 23 (TNS):An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday awarded thirty-six years rigorous imprisonment to Muhammad Irshad and Muhammad Jan after charges of extortion were proven against them.
The prosecution was able to prove in court that both convicts had demanded huge amount of money from complainant
Mukhtiar Uddin. The accused who were workers of banned organization were arrested by Counter Terrorism Police (CTD) the complaint of Mukhtiar Uddin. The accused had also threatened the complainant to kill him if he failed to pay the amount demanded.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,0000 on convicts and in case he failed to pay the amount he would have to serve additional six months of rigorous imprisonment
