Pakistan women’s hockey player signs for an Australian club

Islamabad, May 24 (TNS): Women’s Hockey player Afshah Noreen, who represents Pakistan as a forward, signed for Queensland-based hockey club in Australia on Monday.

Afshah Noreen who plays in the front line of the Pakistan National team has signed a three month contract with the Cairns Hockey club.

The forward however has been out of form in recent times and has been in and out of the Pakistan National Women’s Hockey team.

While departing to Austrlia for her commitments with the club, the delighted hockey player said, that it is an honour for her to represent Pakistan in Australia and that she is looking forward to the challenge.

Afshah added, I’m determined to make a comeback in the Pakistan team and thrive at the international level.

The Pakistan women’s hockey team forward becomes the first Pakistani women hockey player to sign for a foreign club while being a part of the national team as well and the second after Rushna Khan last year.

Rushna Khan signed a six month contact with Sydney based hockey club, St George Randwick.
