ASTORE, May 29 (TNS): Former Member of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly Maulana Attaullah has said that the government is committed to taking tangible measures for the socio-economic development of the womenfolk.
He told media men here, the government has initiated a number of projects for the welfare of underprivileged
areas of the country including GB. The utmost efforts were made to protect rights and ensure justice for the area women, he added.
He said the government was taking a keen interest in the development of women in education, health and social sector which was benefitting thousands of women in GB.
Among other projects, he reiterated that Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has served as the social safety net which was targeting womenfolk by disbursing cash grants to empower them economically. He said the government had given job quota to women in every government department which would give the boost to the national economy
