Riyadh, May 31 (TNS): Saudi Arabia and UAE have banned the import of meat and fruit and vegetable items from India for being unhygienic and contaminated.
Saudi’s food and drug authority has banned the import of frozen meat from India and also ordered an inquiry into the matter, Saudi media reported.
The United Arab Emirates has also banned imports of fresh vegetables and fruits from Indian where thirteen people have died due to an outbreak of the Nipah virus.
In a statement the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment notified local Food Control Authority, to prevent the entry of any fresh produce from India.
