New York, June 1 (TNS): United Nations Security Council has postponed a vote on a draft resolution calling for the protection of Palestinians in Gaza.
Kuwait’s Ambassador Mansour al-Otaibi presented the draft of the resolution. The UN Security Council was expected to vote on last night.
According to Kuwait’s Ambassador Mansour al-Otaibi, “the decision was taken after the United States sought changes and hinted to veto the measures proposed in the resolution.”
At a Security Council meeting on Wednesday, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said, “The people of Gaza do not need protection from an external source they need protection from Hamas”.
Diplomats have said the Palestinian Authority may turn to the UN General Assembly if the draft resolution on protection is vetoed by the United States.
