New Delhi, June 14(TNS): A statement by Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat issued on Thursday that peace should be given a chance in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

According to Indian media reports, General Rawat stated that to solve ongoing issues in Iok dialogue should be given a proper chance.

“Talks must happen. We kill them and more would join, the movement for freedom. Infiltration can be controlled, but this cycle of recruitment of local youth can go on and on. So…let’s give peace a chance and see,” he added.

Commenting on the Indian Major Leetul Gogoi incident, an Indian army officer who had brutally tied a Kashmiri youth in front of his jeep as a human shield, General Rawat informed that inquiry is ongoing and strongest punishment will be given to the officer if he is proven guilty for the incident.

Atrocities in occupied Kashmir prevailed relentlessly as Indian troops martyred 31 Kashmiris including six young boys and a woman last month.

Police Personnel and Indian army used firing bullets, tear gas shells and pellets on the peaceful protestors and around 314 Kashmiris were reduced to injuries.

Hurriyat leaders and activists were arrested during crackdown operations. The troops also disgraced six women and destroyed around 67 residential houses.
