Nomination papers of Fehmida mirza rejected on being bank defaulter

KARACHI, June 23 (TNS): Former speaker of National Assembly and former senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Dr. Fahmeeda Miraza on the grounds of being bank defaulter has been disqualified for the upcoming elections.
In an order issued by Election Commission of Pakistan’s Karachi bureau it has been stated that the papers filed by Mrs. Fahmida Mirza for contesting General Elections -2018 on reserved seat of women in National Assembly has been examined in the light of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
A report furnished by State Bank of Pakistan shows that more than 275 million is overdue against Mrs.Mirza.
The order says that since the loan of Rs7.97 million from Industrial Development Bank and Rs268.338 million from Muslim Commercial Bank received in the name of Mirza Sugar Mill Ltd. amounts more than two million and remains unpaid for more than one year therefore she is not qualified under Article 63(n) of the Constitution to contest the General Elections 2018 as such her nomination paper is hereby rejected.
