Lahore, June 25 (TNS): An appellate tribunal of the Lahore High Court on Monday announced its verdict on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s appeal against the rejection of his candidacy for the NA-95 constituency in Mianwali.

The judge of the appellate tribunal Justice Faisal Zaman Khan reserved the verdict earlier today during the hearing of the PTI chief’s plea of not rejecting his nomination papers on the decision of Returning officer (RO).

In the verdict, the tribunal rejected the RO’s decision and allowed Imran Khan to contest the upcoming general elections from the Mianwali constituency.

The Counsel of the PTI chief, Babar Awan presented the argument in the hearing, “My client has declared all his assets.”“The RO rejected Imran’s nomination papers on technical grounds,”

Awan added that the PTI chairman’s nomination papers were rejected by the RO on the basis of the affidavit not been submitted on time and that his assets worth were not declared in the documents.

Imran’s counsel pleaded the tribunal to declare the RO’s decision baseless in its verdict and that he should be allowed to contest elections in NA-95.

However, lawyer Jahandad Khan told the court, “The oath commissioner has not attested Imran’s affidavit.
