Islamabad, July 17 (TNS): Islamabad High Court has declared the appointment of Tariq Bajwa as the governor State Bank of Pakistan in accordance with the law.

The high court bench rejected the petitions filed by the lawmakers against the appointment of Tariq Bajwa.

On November 6, 2017, IHC’s Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb had issued notices to the secretary ministry of finance and governor SBP directing them to submit a reply in a month’s time.

Total 23 senators belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and The Awami National Party (ANP) have challenged appointment of the SBP Governor, Tariq Bajwa, who took charge of the office on July 7, 2017.

They have accused the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government of “ruthless violation of the legal requirements and procedures” in making the appointment.
