NAB KP starts probe into corruption in BRT Project

Peshawar, July 23, (TNS): National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated a probe into the KP BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) project.

In accordance with the Peshawar High Court division bench order, NAB KP team has undertaken the record after reaching the BRT office located in PDA office.

Earlier A division bench of Peshawar High Court today referred the Bus Rapid Transit project to the National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for investigation on Thursday.The bench comprises Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court Mr. Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth and Justice Mussarat Hilali. According to the court order, the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) project was due to be completed in April 2018 and 50 billion was located for this project but neither the project have been completed and the budget has also exceeded from 50 to 72 billion.The court directed NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to investigate that why the Bus Rapid Transit was not completed on time and why its expenditure increased from forty-nine point three to sixty-seven point nine billion rupees.
