Kalash people jubilant over native youth’s nomination in Provincial Assembly

PESHAWAR, July 28 (TNS): Kalash people in Rumbur valley Saturday celebrated the victory of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in the general elections which has paved the way for selection of their native youth Wazirzada as member of the Provincial Assembly (PA) on minority reserved seats.

He has already been nominated by the party.

Known social worker of the area, Wazirzada, is hailing from Kalash tribe, was nominated for one seat of the two minority seats, and will certainly be the first from Kalash tribe to be part of the Provincial Assembly (PA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after his Party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf created history of winning record majority and become the only party of winning the election for the second consecutive time in KP.

The Names of Wazirzada stood second on the priority list submitted to the election commission while his party had got the required strength of general seats to grab the two minority seats to make him the first Kalash to become an MPA.

People from the other two valleys of Bumburate and Birir thronged the valley to participate in the celebrations which would continue for three days. It is the achievement of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, one Dr Tariq Muhammad Adnan told APP that he specially came from aboard with his family to cast his vote in favour of PTI.

“It was a significant day for the Kalash people as one of their fellows had been nominated by a political party for the assembly seat,” he added. He said that his villagers had slaughtered dozens of goats to feed the guests along with the customary items, including cheese, honey and bread.

The ceremony was also attended by nominated candidate for National Assembly Abdul Latif and Wazirzada and presented special Chitrali cap by the elders of the Kalasha tribe.

A christen girl Najma, who recently passed her MSc in Botany, termed the nomination of people from Kalash to the National and Provincial Assembly seats, would address the deprivation of the people of Kalash, residing in the Chitral District. “We speak Kalash language, from the Dardic family of the Indo-Aryan branch,” she added.

Najma said the victory of PTI is matchless and she is sure the problem being faced by the people of Kalash and other parts of District Chitral, which had been neglected in the past, would be addressed on priority basis.
