ISLAMABAD, July 29 (TNS): In an incident of police assault, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar ordered the arrest of newly-elected PTI MPA, Nadeem Bara on Sunday.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar took suo motu action against the MPA pertaining to physical assault of police officers in Lahore by Bara and his accomplices on Saturday night.
In addition to this CJP directed IG Punjab Kaleem Imam and other officials to appear before the court on Monday to report the investigation.
“A case has been registered against 50 suspects, including Bara and twenty-one suspects have been apprehended so far,” IG Punjab said.
The newly elected PTI MPA and his accomplices physically assaulted Hanjarwal station house officer (SHO) Rana Afzal.
Superintendent of police (SP) Maaz Zafar said security officers led by SHO Afzal were dispatched to Bara’s residence after reports were received of aerial firing.
“Upon reaching the scene, the SHO and his men were physically assaulted by MPA-elect Nadeem Bara, who, along with his accomplices, tore their uniforms and fled the scene.”
The wounded officials were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for treatment, the SP said.
