London, July 30 (TNS): South African pacer Wayne Parnell will replace Travis Head for the remainder of the T20 Blast at Worcestershire as he starts his preparations for the home season in South Africa.
He will also be available for four County Championship games till mid-September.
After a shoulder injury had sidelined the pacer for a significant amount of time, Parnell featured in the Global T20 League in Canada. He bagged six sticks from six games and was also the highest wicket-taker for Edmonton Royals. “It was encouraging to be back again after the long layoff and finishing as the leading wicket-taker was good,” Parnell said.
“I fully believe in my unique skill set and I back my ability with bat and ball to contribute to Worcestershire and the Cape Cobras’ cause.”
Worcestershire is now second in the North Group points table with five wins from eight games. They have six games remaining with the next one against Durham on August 3.
Once Parnell heads home for the summer, he will be replaced by India spinner R. Ashwin for the final two rounds of the County season.
