ISLAMABAD, Aug. 1 (TNS): In a major development, National Accountability Bureau has approved to file a corruption reference against former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Farooq Awazn, Syed Hassan Sheikh, Inam Akbar, former Press Information Officer and other officials of Ministry of Information and Technology.

A meeting of Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau was held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Chairman NAB retired justice Javed Iqbal in the chair.

NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal says the bureau does not believe in discriminatory policy of arresting accused allegedly involved in corruption.

The meeting reviewed several cases, complaints verifications, inquiries and investigations.

The Board approved to file a corruption reference against approved to file a corruption reference against former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Farooq Awazn, Syed Hassan Sheikh, Inam Akbar and other officials of Ministry of Information and Technology.

The accused are allegedly involved in power abuse, granting illegal contract of advertisement to a blue-eyed company which caused loss of Rs 128.07 million to national kitty.

Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau also approved 4 different investigations against Awais Muzaffar Tappi, close aide of former President Asif Ali Zardari, Raja Muhammad Abbas, Ghulam Mustafa, Ghulam Abbas Somro and other officials for irregularities and illegal allotment of land which caused loss worth Rs 33,000 million to national kitty.

The meeting also approved inquiry against officials of LDA and NESPAK for irregularities in Orange Line Metro project which causes loss of Rs 4 billion to national kitty.

The Board approved to file a corruption reference against Manzor Qadir and others for causing loss of Rs 3 billion.

The Board also ordered inquiries, investigations and complaints verifications in other cases.
