Islamabad, August 14 (TNS): Former Opposition leader of National Assembly and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khurshid Shah on Tuesday has submitted his nomination papers in Islamabad Secretariat for the election of Speaker, National Assembly slot.
Speaking to the media, Shah said that he is confident of his victory in the election.
“I have been part of this parliament for over three decades and i have developed good relations with the elected representatives over a period of time” he said.
The PPP leader said a functional parliament is crucial for the prosperity of a strong democracy.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) Qasim Khan Suri also submitted his nomination papers for the slot of the NA deputy speaker.
In a media talk, Suri said that the parliament will be made fully functional. He said his party enjoys majority in the lower house and he is confident of his victory in the elections.
“To address the issues and problems of Balochistan practical steps will be taken through policy making”, he added.
The election for NA speaker and deputy speaker slot will be held on August 15.
