ISLAMABAD July 11 (TNS): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted the pre-arrest bail of Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi in official record tempering case and the hearing of the case will be on July 17.

Earlier in the day IHC rejected the Hijazi’s pre-arrest bail request and asked him to refer to the relevant forum.  However, the hearing was later fixed for the court of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani with the Registrar’s objections.

Hijazi had filed a pre-arrest bail as per Section 498 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Pakistan. The SECP chief’s counsel, Sheikh Ansar appealed that the jail environment was not favorable to Hijazi’s health, as he was on medication after a kidney transplant.

Hijazi said that he has been falsely accused in the record tampering case and he should be given a chance to prove and defend himself.

The special bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan had given the order for registration of FIR after the attorney general informed the court of the result of FIA’s inquiry. The criminal case was registered under sections 466 and 471 of Pakistan Penal Code.
