Islamabad, Sept. 5 (TNS): PPP Senator Rehman Malik felicitated Dr. Afrif Alvi for being elected as 13th President of Pakistan.
In a message Malik, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior, expressed his contentment that another democratic process completed.
He said Pakistan Peoples Party has tendered great sacrifices for protection of democracy in the country.
Malik vowed that his party will continue to support democratic process in the country.
Dr Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate, was Tuesday elected as the next President of Pakistan, after getting majority votes from an electoral college comprising members of the Senate, national and provincial assemblies.
Chief Justices of Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar served as presiding officers while Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza was the returning officer.
