Pace of work on SEZs under CPEC expedited: Bakhtiar

Islamabad, Sept. 10 (TNS): Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar says progress on special economic zones under CPEC has been expedited and investors from across the world are encouraged to seize the lucrative opportunity, state media reported on Monday.

Talking to Vice Chairmen National Development and Reform Commission of China Ning Jizhe in Islamabad, he said all out efforts are being made for success of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Minister said the government will encourage the projects based on indigenous sources of energy to reduce the country’s import bill and guarantee cheaper electricity.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on introducing a mechanism to ensure third country participation in the CPEC.

They also decided to further expedite development projects in Gwadar and ensure groundbreaking of new Gwadar International Airport, technical institute and hospital this year.
