Islamabad, Sept. 10 (TNS): A Full Court meeting was held on Monday in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
It was attended by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sh. Azmat Saeed, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mushir Alam, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Maqbool Baqar, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Faisal Arab, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Munib Akhtar and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi. Mr. Arbab Muhammad Arif, Registrar Supreme Court also attended the meeting.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan welcomed the Judges and thanked them for their commitment and support to advance the cause of justice. The Full Court reviewed the institution and disposal figure of cases and expressed satisfaction over the overall performance. The Full Court noted that during the current year from January to August, 13,384 cases were disposed of against the institution of 15,175 cases. If the Court works with the same pace, the disposal would reach on more than 20,000 cases, which would be the highest disposal figure in the last five years. However, the Full Court observed that untiring efforts should be made to reduce the pendency and clear the backlog. The Full Court deliberated upon different strategies for effective functioning of the Court and suggested ways and means so that dispensation of justice can be further improved and relief can be provided to litigants.
