Pakistan desires broad based relationship with US based on shared interests

New York, Sep 28 (TNS): Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua says Pakistan desires a broad based relationship with the United States based on mutual respect and shared interests.

She was talking to United States’ Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Alice Wells, who called on her on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

Foreign Secretary said Pakistan wants to see a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.

She briefed Alice Wells on the measures Pakistan is taking to secure the Pakistan-Afghan border.

Foreign secretary also drew the senior U.S. official’s attention to the ongoing human rights violations being committed by Indian forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

She said recent events have again demonstrated India’s stubborn unwillingness to engage with Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion Alice Wells appreciated the new Government’s policy of reaching out to the Afghan government.
