CM Buzdar chairs meeting to review Eid-ul-Azha related arrangements

LAHORE, August 09 (TNS): Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a high-level meeting at his office here on Friday in which security and cleanliness arrangements for the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha were reviewed. The meeting decided to celebrate Independence Day as Kashmir Unity Day while August 15 will be celebrated as the Black Day. The meeting also decided to actively engage line departments for boosting anti-dengue and anti-polio efforts. Price control measures were reviewed as well and it was decided that Roti price will remain the same. Various steps were discussed to make Plant for Pakistan Program a success along with an early solution of various matters pertaining to the establishment of new Arazi centers and acquiring of land.
The chief minister directed that best security measures should be arranged on Eid-ul-Azha adding that cabinet committee on law and order should ensure implementation of the devised security plan. The enemy is very mean and wicked; therefore, the line departments should keep a vigilant eye on anti-state elements. He further directed that special teams should be constituted for stopping one-wheeling and asked the police to eradicate aerial firing as well. Usman Buzdar asked the administration and solid waste management companies to ensure best cleanliness arrangements on Eid-ul-Azha and disclosed that he will not go on leave during Eid days and would visit any city across the province to review the situation there. The line departments should also be fully prepared in the wake of rains and cleanliness in cattle markets should be ensured along with making special arrangements to keep the smooth flow of traffic around cattle markets. He said that best arrangements should be ensured to timely dispose of the animals’ innards and further said that spray should also be conducted in big cities. “I will not tolerate any laxity in cleanliness arrangements and the administration should keenly monitor the cleanliness arrangements.” You have been given the target of cleaning the cities and it is a collective responsibility of all of you to ensure cleanliness, he added. Citizens complaints with regard to the cleanliness should be disposed of without any delay. He directed that the swings installed in parks should be examined to keep the lives of the citizens safe and secure. The chief minister was briefed that a provincial level control room would be set up to monitor cleanliness arrangements round-the-clock.
Independence Day to be celebrated as Kashmir solidarity day: The Punjab government has decided to hold ceremonies to celebrate Independence Day as Kashmir Solidarity Day while August 15 will be celebrated as Black Day. The chief minister said that special ceremonies, rallies and seminars will be held to show solidarity with the Kashmiris. He said that no one has accepted the most controversial Indian government’s decision of changing the status of Occupied Kashmir.

Anti-dengue and anti-polio steps: The Punjab government has decided to activate line departments for the eradication of dengue in the wake of current rain-spell. While addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that line departments should proactively perform their duties for the eradication of polio and dengue diseases and made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. In case of any negligence, strict action will be taken and Commissioners and DCs concerned should take practical steps. A special anti-polio campaign will be run in the last week of August on the directions of the chief minister. Usman Buzdar said that health and other departments should professionally perform their duties to completely eliminate poliovirus. He said that children should be administered anti-polio drops through special teams at various places including at entry and exit points of the cities. Similarly, Commissioners and DCs should also actively monitor anti-dengue and anti-polio efforts in their respective areas and health department should be given full assistance along with monitoring of field teams.
Roti price to remain unchanged: The chief minister has directed to take measures for stabilizing the prices of essential items. He said that Roti price will remain the same. He said that the shortage of price-control magistrates should be fulfilled as soon as possible and crackdown be conducted against those creating artificial price-hike. The Commissioners and DCs should also keep a vigilant eye on prices on a daily basis.
Plant for Pakistan Program: The chief minister has said that saplings will be planted under Plant for Pakistan Program adding that a district-wise target will be fixed in this regard. The Punjab government will plant two million saplings during the current monsoon season and the target of planting nine million saplings will also be achieved. He directed the Commissioners and DCs to proactively perform their duties in order to achieve the targets.
115 new Arazi centers by December 31: The chief minister has said that 115 new Arazi centers will start working by December 31 to provide relief to the people. He asked the Commissioners and DCs to help early disposal of issues relating to land acquisition and added that untoward delay will not be tolerated. He said that Punjab government has retrieved one lakh and 11 thousand acres of land from the squatters. The Commissioners and DCs should submit feasible proposals for its best utilization. The administration officers should also visit Arazi centers and attention should be given to settlement issues. Chief Secretary, IG police, SMBR, administrative secretaries, Commissioner Lahore, DG PDMA and other officers attended the meeting while Commissioners, DCs and MDs of waste management companies also participated through video link.
Balochistan’s Industries Minister Calls on CM Punjab: A delegation led by Industries Minister of Balochistan Haji Muhammad Khan Toor Utmankhail called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. On this occasion, both strongly condemned the controversial Indian decision of revoking the status of Occupied Kashmir and expressed their complete solidarity with the Kashmiris. The expansion project will make possible the start of international flights and the people of Loralai and adjoining areas will also be facilitated. He said that an increase in trade and economic activities in DG Khan and the adjoining areas of Balochistan province will help to eradicate the sense of deprivations and steel bridge project in Fort Munro will help in improving road networks. Similarly, the people of Balochistan will also be facilitated from the upgradation of DHQ hospital DG Khan and other health centers. He said that Sakhi Sarwar Road and Taunsa Highway expansion project will be completed soon adding that roads will be repaired and expanded to improve road networks connecting Balochistan. Usman Buzdar was offered to visit Balochistan province which he openly accepted and announced to visit Balochistan province as soon as possible. He also invited the students of Loralai to visit Lahore and said that Punjab government will also host them.
