Pakistan wants to stabilize Afghanistan with help of regional countries: Akram

Islamabad: Aug 28, 2021 (TNS): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram says Pakistan is holding consultations with all regional countries on a coordinated approach towards the situation in Afghanistan.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, he said Pakistan wants to see an inclusive and broad-based government in Afghanistan.

About recognizing the new Afghan government, the Pakistani envoy said Taliban leaders and other Afghan groups are holding talks, and question of recognition will arrive only after Taliban form a government there.

He however said Pakistan is in touch with regional countries on the issue of recognition and on the steps required to stabilize Afghanistan.
