Kamyab Jawan Program proving to be a game changer for youth

Islamabad: Oct 07, 2021 (TNS): Kamyab Jawan Program (KJP) is proving to be a game changer as it has enabled the youth to earn their livelihoods and promoted entrepreneurship amongst them.

This is also generating economic activity as well as job opportunities in diverse sectors.

16,090 loans worth 21.7 Billion rupees have so far been disbursed under this program while another 505,687 are in the process of approval. 83.8 percent of the recipients are male whereas 16.2 percent are females.

Sharing their success stories with Radio Pakistan’s correspondent Haider Baloch, the recipients of loan lauded the government’s initiative which has provided a huge platform to the youth to translate their dreams and ideas into reality.

Shahid Kazmi, who lost his parents at an early age in 2005 earthquake, had a responsibility of two younger siblings. He approached the program by applying online and received a loan to purchase a car.

Expressing his views, he said numerous problems were looming around him when he saw an opportunity in Kamyab Jawan Program. He purchased a car and registered it with an online taxi service in Islamabad. He said his earning from the taxi is enough to support his family.

Mavara Aziz, an entrepreneur running a business of event management in Islamabad, in her remarks said she wanted to start her business but she did not have sufficient funds.

She said she learned about Kamyab Jawan Program through social media and applied for loan. She said purchased necessary props for décor. She said three percent markup for five years plan is quite feasible for her.

She said the entire procedure of availing the loan was transparent and on merit. She asked the youth to apply for loans and come up with their brilliant ideas.

Waqas Abbasi an entrepreneur from Islamabad in his conversation said he was running a business of electronic home appliances but was facing inability to deliver the goods at customer’s home.

He said with the help of loan from Kamyab Jawan Program he purchased a van and now he is providing home delivery of appliances. He said by purchasing a van he is also providing a job to another person by hiring him as a driver.

All Pakistani residents, aged between 21 and 45 years with entrepreneurial potential are eligible to apply for the loan.

For Information Technology and E-Commerce related businesses, the lower age limit is 18 years. Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme is for both startups and expansion of existing businesses across Pakistan.
