Lahore, June 22: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi paid a detailed visit to Mayo Hospital for about 3.5 hours in severe hot and humid weather today. Mohsin Naqvi inspected emergency and other wards and reviewed the facilities being provided to the patients. Air conditioners of different wards were shut down, wash rooms were out of order and taps were missing. There were poor cleanliness arrangements in the wards. Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi expressed his severe indignation over this maladministration and reprimanded MS and the hospital administration over this mismanagement. The patients also complained over non-availability of medicines in the Mayo Hospital. A mother of a patient wept over not being properly attended in the hospital. Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi himself reached ICU with the distressed mother and inquired from the incharge doctor of the concerned ward. Mohsin Naqvi issued directions to the MS to provide best treatment facilities to Wahab Naeem. The patients and the attendants apprised the CM about their problems. Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi listened to their problems and issued on the spot directions for their resolution. Caretaker CM also reviewed the whole process by taking token in the Children Emergency. Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi ordered to improve reading room and cafeteria immediately and also granted permission to female students to install air conditioners with payment in the hostel of King Edward Medical College. Mohsin Naqvi inspected Dialysis Unit, Emergency Ward, Medical Ward, OPD, Surgical Outdoor, East Medical Ward and Balqees Sarwar ICU. Mohsin Naqvi also visited ECG Room, Cardiology ICU, Pharmacy, Indoor Medical and other departments including sitting area. Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi announced to build state-of-the-art Mayo Hospital in four months under two phases. Mohsin Naqvi has also sought improvement plan of Mayo Hospital within one week. Mohsin Naqvi announced to name children block as Mayo Children Hospital. It was principally decided to establish a cardiac block equipped with all latest facilities in the Mayo Hospital. Emergency Ward will also be transformed into latest emergency at a new place.
One ward of Mayo Hospital will be assigned to late Dr. Faisal Masood. Mohsin Naqvi asserted that shortage and non-availability of medicines is non pardonable adding that we want to bring quality of Mayo Hospital at par with Agha Khan Hospital. Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi was given a detailed briefing in the committee room of King Edward Medical College. MS of seven hospitals affiliated with the KE University,
Dean and CEO attended the briefing. Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Dr. Javed Akram, Secretary Health, Secretary C&W, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University, Chief Executive Officer Mayo Hospital, Medical Superintendents of Lady Atchison Hospital, Lady Willingdon Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Munshi Hospital, Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
