KARACHI, Aug 5 (TNS): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the accountability should be applied across the board and all those nominated in the Panama Papers should be brought to full justice.

He expressed these views on Saturday while addressing a “Mango party” held in the honor of media persons at the JI Karachi headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq.

Engr. Naeem welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify Nawaz Sharif and added that it was a good omen that the democratic process survives despite of the jolt.

He further said that JI keeps a firm stand that the accountability process should remain continue and that not only a family of party, but all those responsible for corruption should be held accountable. He said that JI’s chief Sirajul Haq has presented his party and himself for accountability.

“Accountability should be above all. All those who were bankrupt who got their loans waved off and who were let go scot free through NRO should be held accountable.”

Talking about Karachi, he said that the city needs a comprehensive package of Rs500 billion. Only a Green Line project would not resolve the issues of transport in the megalopolis. The city needs a mass transit project and in this regard the circular railway project is a must.

He said that unfortunately, the so called contractors of the city also remained fail to own the city. He said that people want change and added that the JI does not only own the city but also presents itself to become a trail blazer in the society.

He was of the view that the city had been neglected since long, however the time has come to bring a change, he added.
