Kashmir (TNS) Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control, Pakistan and around the world observed “Kashmir Martyrs’ Day” to pay tribute to all Kashmiri martyrs.
Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is observed every year on July 13 for 94 years. This historical day is celebrated by the people of Kashmir and Pakistan and Kashmiris and Pakistanis living around the world. Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is observed every year on July 13 in Kashmir and some Pakistani areas to commemorate the killing of Kashmiri muezzins, with the aim of expressing solidarity with these victims.
On this day in 1931, the soldiers of the Maharaja of Kashmir killed 22 Kashmiri youth while giving the call to prayer. Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue. Despite state terrorism on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, India has consistently failed to suppress the voice of Kashmiris. The blood of one lakh Kashmiri martyrs is the proof that the Kashmir freedom movement is alive. Kashmir Martyrs’ Day is celebrated every year on July 13 for 91 years.
This blood of martyrs will not go in vain and the dream of Kashmiris’ freedom will definitely come true one day. India is the biggest terrorist country in the world which is using every tactic to crush the freedom movement of the Kashmiri nation but it has faced failure every time. India has a long and shameful history of cheating Kashmiris which the people of Kashmir cannot forget.
The bitter facts of India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir are that since 1989 till now, 96089 people have been brutally martyred. 7244 people were caught and killed. 164931 people were arrested and imprisoned. 110,484 houses, buildings and offices were arbitrarily demolished. In these 33 years, 22,946 women became widows, 107,866 children became orphans and 1,255 women were sexually exploited. India is bent on converting the disputed territory from a Muslim-majority state into a Hindu-majority state, which is a violation of Article 49 of the 4th Geneva Convention.

July 13 is undoubtedly a symbol of the determination, courage and struggle of Kashmiris. Since August 5, 2019, unnecessary killings of Kashmiris, fake encounters, arrests and raids on their homes have become the norm. Neither the Kashmiris nor the world have recognized the Indian illegal action of August 5, 2019. In 2019, the Modi government insulted the history of Kashmiris by announcing the abolition of the holiday of Martyrs’ Day in occupied Kashmir, and the Indian government announced an official holiday on October 26 on the occasion of the so-called ‘Accession Day’. July 13 is observed in memory of the martyrdom of 22 Kashmiri muezzins who were killed outside Srinagar Jail by the soldiers of the Maharaja of Kashmir on July 13, 1931 while giving the call to prayer. While countless Muslims were also arrested, this was the call to prayer that 22 muezzins completed by sacrificing their lives. The echo of this call to prayer still resonates today. It is in the hearts of Kashmiris.
This historic day is celebrated by the people of Kashmir and Pakistan and by Kashmiris and Pakistanis living around the world. The story of the sacrifices of July 13th keeps the spirit of freedom of Kashmiris fresh to this day. This incident actually formed the foundation of the freedom movement and this is the unforgettable day when Kashmiris vowed to achieve freedom at all costs. Even after this brutal incident of July 13th, the Kashmiri people have been victims of state oppression of the Hindu Rashtra for 9 decades, but they did not lose heart. Every year on July 13th, tributes are paid to the martyrs of Kashmir in a grand manner all over the world. Kashmiris also reiterate their resolve that they will continue to achieve freedom from Indian oppression and tyranny. With each passing day, hatred for the Indian state is increasing in the occupied valley. According to the United Nations Charter and Security Council resolutions, Kashmiris are fighting a legitimate struggle for their rights. There are 1 million Indian soldiers in occupied Kashmir. Out of which 300,000 soldiers are occupying Srinagar alone. Indian The incidents of extrajudicial killings by the brutalities and rape of more than 11,255 women have shaken the conscience of the world. This month too, the killings and massacres continue in occupied Kashmir and 35 people were martyred unnecessarily. 9 people were caught and killed. 104 people were arrested and imprisoned without any crime. 6 buildings were demolished, 2 women were widowed and 6 children were orphaned. Many Kashmiri youth have been martyred extrajudicially in fake police encounters and unjust imprisonment. Due to this conflict, today there is a serious humanitarian crisis in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which only the international community can take on. Despite all these vile tactics, India has always failed to distort the identity and history of Kashmiris. Today, human rights organizations around the world are protesting against Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir. India has been horrified by the involvement of young blood in the freedom struggle. The martyrdom of Burhan Wani on July 8, 2016, breathed new life into the freedom movement. The courage and steadfastness of thousands of heroes like Burhan Wani and Maqbool Butt are a beacon of light for Kashmiri freedom fighters. In recent years, due to Pakistan’s effective diplomacy, the Kashmir issue has been raised in parliaments around the world. Another heinous ploy was to hold a G20 summit in occupied Kashmir. India wants to stage a G20 summit in occupied Kashmir to throw dust in the eyes of the world. The Modi government should refrain from tarnishing the reputation of the United Nations by holding this summit in occupied Kashmir. The G20 countries should take note of the systematic human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India. The leaders of the All-Party Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir urged the G20 countries to refrain from participating in the group summit to be held in the disputed territory recognized by the United Nations. Occupied Kashmir, where thousands of Kashmiris are illegally detained and the Indian army is killing innocent Kashmiri youth in fake encounters on a daily basis, is not a suitable venue for holding any international conference. It is the responsibility of the G-20 countries to put pressure on India to stop war crimes in occupied Kashmir and to give justice to the Kashmiris as per its commitment. Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people until a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue. According to Kashmir Media Service, all freedom-loving leaders and organizations have supported the strike call of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh to pay tribute to the 22 Kashmiris martyred by the troops on July 13, 1931. Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, appealed to the Kashmiri people to march towards the shrine of martyrs Naqshband Sahib in Srinagar to offer Fateha for the souls of the martyrs. The Hurriyat spokesperson said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs will never be allowed to go in vain and the mission of the martyrs will be continued at all costs until the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian occupation. It may be recalled that these people who were martyred on July 13, 1931, were among the thousands who gathered outside the Srinagar Central Jail during the trial of a man named Abdul Qadeer, who had called the Kashmiri people to rise up against the Dogra rule. When a Kashmiri youth started reciting the Adhan at the time of Zuhr prayers, the Maharaja’s soldiers shot and martyred him. After this, another person stood up to complete the Adhan and was also martyred. Thus, 22 Kashmiris sacrificed their lives until the Adhan was completed.
