ISLAMABAD (TNS) Fateh Jang : In a major crackdown against food smuggling in Punjab, authorities have seized 232 tons of wheat and bran from multiple trucks, in an operation personally overseen by Chaudhry Shafqat Mahmood. The move is part of a sustained effort to prevent essential food supplies from being illegally transported out of the province.

The operation, carried out under the cover of darkness, involved 20 trucks initially. Sources said that the Special Price Magistrate acted promptly, deploying police teams and coordinating on-ground activities to ensure the seizure. DSP Aslam Dogar, SHO Mujahid Abbas, Check Post Incharge Syed Kamran, and Muharrar Haseeb Ahmad actively participated in the mission.

Two days later, at the Fateh Jang interchange, authorities intercepted an additional seven trucks, demonstrating that this was part of a continuous enforcement strategy rather than a one-off operation. Chaudhry Shafqat Mahmood emphasized that, under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directives, no wheat or flour would be allowed to leave the province illegally.

Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza and DPO Sardar Moharan Khan commended the officers for their diligence, highlighting the importance of safeguarding public food resources.

Public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Citizens welcomed the operation, calling it a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to protecting essential supplies and ensuring accountability among smugglers.

The Fateh Jang operation underscores the provincial government’s determination to curb food smuggling and safeguard citizens’ rights, sending a strong message that unlawful diversion of vital commodities will not be tolerated.
