ISLAMABAD Aug. 8 (TNS): The counsel of the PTI Usman Saeed Basra in the PML-N GT Road rally case said on Tuesday that the rally is aimed at challenging the Supreme Court verdict and is an effort to undermine the authority of the Supreme Court and thus constitutes an attack on the independence of the judiciary,

The counsel while arguing before the court added that the purpose of the rally was to incite public anger and a show of power as the PML-N wanted to pressurize NAB handling corruption references against the Sharif family. The counsel requested the court to direct federal government, ICT administration and Punjab government to stop this rally.

He further said it can also lead to a clash between the workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PTI workers.

The PTI filed petition was heard by Justice Amir Farooq.

Islamabad high Court IHC reserved his decision regarding the maintainability of the petition against the former-Prime minister Nawaz Sharif rally. It will be announced at an appropriate time.
