Punjab govt help against dengue epidemic wins hearts of KP’s Pashtun people

PESHAWAR, August 23 (TNS): Shahbaz Sharif led Punjab government has won the hearts of people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by providing them best treatment against deadly dengue virus.

Punjab government in latest move announced a Help-Line for dengue outbreak hit province in local Pashtu language.

Help-Line 0800-99000 would provide guidance to Pashtu speaking people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about treatment and precautions against dengue fever.

The slow response of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to the Punjab government’s offer to help the province in elimination of the menace was widely criticized.

After criticism, the health department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is now taking technical assistance from the mobile health units sent by Punjab government to put brakes on the outbreak of haemorrhagic dengue fever, which has killed five people besides sending 1,000 others to hospitals during the past one month.

The Karwan-e-Sehat Team dispatched by the government of Punjab for the treatment of dengue patients in Peshawar started its work with the checking of over 800 patients daily.

The Punjab government set up mobile health units in six districts.

Members of Punjab team also visited other hospitals and shared information about line of treatments with medics there.
