ISLAMABAD Aug. 29 (TNS):  Foreign Office on Monday summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner J.P. Singh to lodge strong protest against unprovoked firing in Azad Jammu and Kashmir which killed three on August 27, reported Dunya News.

In another event of unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC), Indian troops had fired mortar shells in Fatehpur village yesterday. This violation led to the deaths of three civilians including a woman.

According to the Foreign Office Director General (South Asia & SAARC) Muhammad Faisal, India has violated the ceasefire agreement on more than 600 occasions in 2017. Moreover, as a result of these violations 28 Pakistani citizens were martyred while 113 injured.

“Deliberately targeting populated areas is against human values and International laws,” Faisal said. He demanded that India’s deputy high commissioner should probe these ceasefire violations and permit the United Nations Military Observer (UNMO) group in India to play its role.
