RAWALPINDI, Oct 13 (TNS): The recovered Canadian family from Afghanistan by the Pakistan Army has left for the country from Islamabad on Friday, security officials said.

The family including a Canadian national, his American wife and three children left Pakistan via PIA flight PK-785

The Canadian-American family members were kidnapped in 2012, however they were recovered from Afghanistan a day ago, Thursday.

American Caitlan Coleman, 31, and her Canadian husband Joshua Boyle, 33, were abducted while backpacking in Afghanistan in October 2012 on a trip that had earlier taken them to Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Coleman was pregnant with her first child at the time of abduction, and gave birth to all three of the couple’s children in captivity.

The family were rescued by the Pakistan Army in an operation in Kohat on the basis of “actionable intelligence” provided by Washington, that indicated the hostages and their captors had crossed the Pak-Afghan border into Kurram Agency on Oct 11, 2017.

After their recovery, the family of five were to go by plane to Afghanistan’s Bagram air base, but Boyle declined to board the plane.

The couple told US officials and their families wanted to fly on commercial airline to Canada.

After the recovery, the United States (US) president Donald Trump hailed the effort of Pakistan army for the recovery of a foreigner family and termed it a positive step.

“It is a positive moment in between Pakistan and Us ties,” Us president said in his reaction over the recovery of the foreigners today.

President Donald Trump told a crowd in Pennsylvania that “something happened today where a country that totally disrespected us called with some very, very important news.”
