KARACHI OCT 25 (TNS): Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Aamir Liaquat will soon join Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), sources told.

PTI Karachi leader Imran Ismail told that a formal announcement about Aamir Liaquat’s inclusion in the party will be made in a press conference on Wednesday (today). PTI chief Imran Khan is expected to attend the press conference at Imran Ismail’s residence.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain left MQM after MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s August 22 speech in which he urged his supporters to raise anti-Pakistan slogans and attack media houses.

“I apologise again and again from Pakistan and people of Pakistan. Nothing is more important to me than Pakistan,” Aamir Liaquat told in a private TV channel programme.

At that time, Hussain had just rejoined MQM and was vigorously defending party on media since August 22.

Later in another TV show, Aamir Liaquat also claimed that he is heartbroken and will never enter politics again.

Two days later, Aamir Liaquat again said that he is receiving death threats through SMS and phone calls after leaving MQM and announced that if he is killed, MQM London and Altaf Hussain will be responsible.

My only wish is to get buried in Pakistan flag,” said Amir Liaquat while responding to a question.

He requested the MQM’s on-panel leader, Khawaja Izharul Hassan, not to call him an “MQM martyr” after his death as his “life and death is only for Pakistan”.
