SRINAGAR Oct 27 (TNS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and world over are observing Black Day today to protest against the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India.
Following a strike call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership and other pro-freedom organizations, a complete shutdown is being observed today in the occupied Kashmir.
The black day marks 70 years of the illegal occupation of Kashmir by Indian forces. It was on this day that Indian troops illegally took control of the Himalayan region of Kashmir, unleashing a reign of terror and usurping Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Even after several decades, Kashmiris are fighting for their right to self -determination and freedom from Indian oppression as the United Nations is yet to ensure implementation of its resolution calling for free and independent plebiscite to determine their fate.
In their separate messages on the day, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi reiterated Pakistan’s unflinching and steadfast moral, diplomatic and political support for just cause of the Kashmiri people.
The President urged India to implement the UN resolutions as peace and prosperity of the entire region is linked with the resolution of the long standing dispute.
In his message, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said India must honour commitments of its founding fathers and ensure implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
He said worst form of state terrorism is being perpetrated against the defenseless Kashmiris and entire Indian state machinery is involved in the crimes against humanity.
He called for an independent, transparent and fair investigation into these human rights violations under the United Nation.
