Rehman Malik visits PIMS to inquire about health of journalist Noorani

Islamabad, Oct. 30 (TNS): Former Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday inquired about health of senior journalist Ahmad Noorani who came under attack last week in broad daylight in federal capital.

The journalist remains under treatment at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad.

Malik visited PIMS to enquire about Noorani’s health. PPP Senator condemned the attack and said there is a need to protect journalists.

Speaking to media on the occasion, Malik condemned the attack on senior journalist and called on the government and authorities to catch the culprits immediately.

“The attack is regrettable. Such incidents must not be tolerated any further,” said Malik.

The incident prompted condemnations from noted political and social figures, and media representatives.

DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor also condemned the incident. He sent a bouquet to the injured journalist and prayed for his speedy recovery.

Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi and Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai were also among the ones who denounced the cowardly act.
