District Bar Association Islamabad demands SC to give right of open trial to Justice Siddiqui

Islamabad, Oct. 31 (TNS): Members of General Body of District Bar Association Islamabad have demanded the Supreme Court to give right of fair and open trial to Islamabad High Court Judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.

Members of the General Body of the Bar, during its meeting, unanimously pass resolution to in favour of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and demanded the apex court to give him right of fair and open trail.

The members of the Bar said that Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had taken strict action against corrupt elements in the bureaucracy.

They added that Justice Siddiqui also gave the constitutional and legal rights to the citizens of the federal capital, which projected positive impression of judiciary in public opinion.

Members of the Bar said that Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui also stopped growing corruption in the society by taking action against Land mafia and occupant bureaucrats.

The lawyers demanded the references against Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui must be heard in open trial which is basic right of every citizen.

They said by open trial facts can be revealed to the public and it would expose real motives and factors behind these references.

The lawyers say that secret and in-camera trial cannot fulfill requirements of justice and they would not accept such trial.

Earlier, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui has also requested the top court for right of open trial before the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

According to details, serving Islamabad High Court judge accused of misconduct has approached the Supreme Court to request that he be given an open trial before the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) under article 10-A which provides every citizen with the right to a fair trial and due process.

Siddiqui, who is facing SJC proceedings for alleged misconduct, filed a constitutional petition in the apex court under Article 184 (3), making the council and the federation respondents.
