Vancouver, Nov. 16 (TNS): Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to UN principles and its peacekeeping missions, state media reported.
He was speaking at the UN Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial Meeting in C
anadian city of Vancouver.
The Defence Minister said Pakistan has pledged troops and equipment generously for peacekeeping.
He, however, said that rapid deployment of peacekeeping troops to ward off genocide and mass suffering remains the greatest challenges faced by the UN.
Khurram Dastgir said the onus is on the world body to provide clear milestones and timelines for internal reforms that support rapid deployment.
