BAMAKO Dec 05 (TNS): Malian President Ibrahim Boubakar has refuted the French claim that they killed as many as 11 jihadists saying they were actually Malian soldiers held captive by militants whom the French took for Jihadists.

The tragedy happened after France’s Macron had called upon African countries to be grateful to the French troops present in Mali.

The controversy has raised flags internationally since the French Defense Minister Florence Parley issued a statement in which he expressed strong conviction “that the victims of the raid were not hostages”.

The jihadists had previously released “an appeal” footage of the captured soldiers in the light of which Mali Defense Ministry maintains that the French troops raid was a strategic failure and claims of successful operation was in fact a deplorable tragedy.
