The big names of Bollywood that left their artistic legacy behind in 2017

MUMBAI, Dec 24 (TNS): 2017 will ever be remembered in Mumbai film industry, the Bollywood, in particular with the reference of losing some of the big names including Rajesh Khanna , Shahi Kapoor and Om Puri who, with their artistic legacy and super status have helped the industry to reach where it feels proud to be at present times.

Here are five actors who passed away this year.

1- Om Puri

Born in 1950, Puri went on to earn a name for himself in Hindi cinema, Bollywood as well as Hollywood. The artist passed away this year on January 6 after over heart failure.

2- Rajesh Khanna

Khanna lost his battle with cancer in 2017 and passed away while under treatment in a hospital in April. Funeral of the Bollywood hero was attended by big Bollywood names, same as that of late Om Puri.

3- Reema Lagoo

Lagoo, who was launched as an actress in Marathi cinema, passed away in May after a heart failure and is remembered for her work in several Hindi films.

She played mother to Shahrukh Khan aka ‘Aman’ in Kal Ho Naa Ho directed by Nikhil Malhotra, helmed by Dharma Productions. She also worked in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai of the said banner.

4- Tom Alter

Another much revered theatre and cinema artist lost his life to cancer this year. Tom Alter, known for his invaluable contributions to cinema as well as theatre passed away on September 29.

5- Shashi Kapoor

Padma Bhushan in 2011 and Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015, Shashi got the best of what the fraternity and the government had to offer. He was the third member of his family of receive Indian cinema’s highest decorations after his father Raj Kapoor and grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor. He passed away on December 4 at the age of 79.
