Islamabad, June 22 (TNS): Members of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) have been divided into two factions after differences emerged between top officials and Council members over key issues.

60 officers, including the acting Registrar and Chief Legal Officer, have challenged the Council’s legal status, the appointments and promotions made by the council.

Acting Registrar Syed Azhar Ali Shah along with 60 officials requested the President PMDC and the Council members to dissolve the Departmental Promotion Committee and to constitute a new committee comprising senior members of the Council.

The PMDC on March 15 this year issued orders to form a new Departmental Promotion Committee comprising five members headed by Dr. Amir Bandesha.

According to the documents available with TNS, 60 officers, including Chief Registrar, Chief Legal Officer Sarah Rabab Nasir, Deputy Registrar Muhammad Iqbal, Administrative Officer Dilpazir and Account Office Fahad bin Hassanin told the President PMDC that Departmental Promotion Committee – which was formed during 142nd meeting of the council – was not working under the laws and regulations.

According to the application, the meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee was organized last month, but the committee has neither informed the recommendations to concerned officers nor published it on the website.

They demanded that the council should formulate a fair Departmental Promotion Committee to run it efficiently and according to law and regulations.

Chairman of the DMDC’s Departmental Promotion Committee Dr. Amir Bandesha, Dr Shafiqur Rehman, Dr. Masrat Hussain, Dr. Taj Mohammad and Administrative Officer Dilpazir are members of the new board.
