Pakistani cuisine has bright chance to seize its share in Chinese food market

BEIJING Jan 24 (TNS): The Pakistani cuisine-based food festival opened last week was extended for further three days keeping in view the warm response from the significant number of Chinese people and the foreigners based at the Chinese capital.

The six-day food festival, organized by the Embassy of Pakistan here at China World Hotel was scheduled to conclude on Monday but the management of the hotel has extended it for three days in a bid to give more people a chance to enjoy Pakistani food, a senior official in Pakistan Embassy said.

A wide range of authentic Pakistan’s rich and delicious cuisine being showcased at the festival included famous Biryani, chicken Haleem, and Sajji along with various other Pakistani delicacies. He said the food festival attracted a significant number of people belonging to different walks of life visited the hotel and tasted Pakistan traditional cuisines.

One of the top Pakistani chefs Abdus Saeed Baloch and his Assistant Sajjad Ahmed specially arrived here from Islamabad to present spectacular food, were surprised to witness an enthusiastic response from the Chinese people.

“They came in significant number during lunch and dinner times and appreciated our food because of its different taste and aroma,” they said.

Abdus Saeed Baloch opined that Pakistani cuisines are very popular among Chinese people and there is a need to open more Pakistani food outlets to provide them experience Pakistani food with its trademark aroma and spices.

The Chinese people like and eat spicy food and therefore, Pakistani cuisine has a bright chance to seize its share in the food market, he added.

About different dishes presented during the festival, he said, “We have introduced a wide range of Pakistani food but Haleem, Nehari, Balochi Sajji and Kebabs were very popular among Chinese people.”

It may be mentioned here that the food festival was launched on January 18, with an aim to introduce Pakistan through its delicious cuisines in China.
