Manhunt against killer cop Rao Anwar intensified as IG Sindh seeks help from counterparts of other provinces

KARACHI, Jan 28 (TNS): The Inspector General Sindh intensified the manhunt against former SSP Rao Anwar, who was in the run after SC decision for his arrest, and sought help from IGs of other provinces.

According to sources IG Sindh AD Khawaja  wrote a letter to IGs of other provinces in which he termed Rao Anwar absconder and informed them complete details of the case.

The letter told that Rao Anwar was not appeared before the Supreme Court and was trying to escape.

Letter was sent to IG Punjab, Balochistan, KP, Gilgit Biltistan Motorways and Railway officials.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court began hearing suo motu case of the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud at its Karachi Registry today and directed Sindh Inspector General AD Khawaja to arrest suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar in three days.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Gulzar and Justice Faisal Arab heard the case, after the apex court took notice of the killing earlier this week.

Sindh Inspector General (IG) AD Khawaja, Sanaullah Abbasi and Azad Khan appeared before the court.During the hearing today, the CJP expressed great resentment over the absence of Anwar in the court and asked the Sindh IG, “Where is Rao Anwar hiding? We had ordered him to appear before the court in personal capacity. Where is he?”

To this, AD Khawaja replied that every attempt had been made to locate and arrest the suspended official but he had absconded.

“The court should be told what procedure the police has adopted for Rao Anwar’s arrest?” the CJP inquired.

The CJP also summoned affidavits from all owners of private chartered jets, and instructed IG Sindh to ensure Anwar’s arrest within three days.

Earlier today, notables from the Pakhtun Qaumi Jirga gathered outside the Supreme Court Karachi Registry and protested against Naqeebullah’s murder. They demanded that a judicial inquiry be conducted in the case.
