Kabul, Islamabad to form ‘Offensive Plan’ against Taliban, Haqqani Network: says Afghan foreign ministry

Kabul, Feb. 4 (TNS): Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to form an offensive plan against the Taliban, Haqqani Network and other militant groups in the region, Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Sunday.

The plan is expected to be finalized in meeting of the Afghan and Pakistani delegations which will take place on February ninth and 10th in Islamabad, Afghan Ministry’s Deputy Spokesman Sebghantullah Ahmadi told Ariana News.

“The actions will take place based on the timetable being specified in the plan,” Ahmadi said.

According to Afghan Foreign Affairs Ministry, fighting against the Taliban and Haqqani Network will be in priorities of the due Kabul-Islamabad plan.

This comes a day after Pakistani delegation comprising senior civilian and military officials led by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua visited Kabul as part of Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity.

The delegation has offered a joint investigation into the recent terrorist attacks in Kabul.

The Head of Afghan parliament’s internal security commission, Mirdad Nijrabi alleged that Pakistan wants to prove their influence in Afghanistan behind the recent attacks in Kabul.

He said the Afghan security forces are capable of defending the attacks; but, he believes beside that there has to be strong intelligence awareness.
