Islamabad, Feb 27(TNS):  The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing against Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan over fake affidavit case.

The hearing was conducted by a three-member bench headed by Chief Electioneer Commissioner. Khan had submitted fake affidavits to back his allegations about the transfer of thousands of votes from NA-122 (Lahore) without the consent of the voters ahead of the by-election in the constituency.

A counsel resenting National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq told the bench that the Lahore high Court has already disposed of the case after the petitioner failed to prove his allegations.

Khan had filed an 800-page petition in the ECP, saying that before the by-election held on October 11 last year, some 30,500 votes had been transferred from the constituency or cancelled, raising doubts about the transparency of the election results. Affidavits of a number of voters had been annexed with the petition, all of which were found to be forged. The ECP adjourned the hearing till March 8
