Cheema, Sahfiq’s remand extended for 15 days

Lahore March 5 (TNS): An accountability court in Lahore extended the judicial remand of former LDA chief Ahad Cheema and Bismillah Engineering Company CEO Shahid Shafiq and they were handed over to the NAB on a 15-day remand.

Both the accused have been booked in Ashiana Housing scheme scam.

The NAB officials requested the trial court to extend the physical remand of the accused and further probe was required to be carried out in the scandal.

Cheema and Shafiq were arrested corruption worth billions of rupees in the Ashiana housing scheme, a low-cost housing project of the Punjab government.

Cheema was arrested on February 21, and Shafiq was taken into custody a few days after the scam surfaced.
