Islamabad March 3 (TNS): Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that he personally thought that Pakistan People’s Party veteran leader and outgoing Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani should retain the slot as a consensus candidate

While speaking to the media outside the trial court in connection with the Avenfield properties reference, Sharif the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and its allied parties also consulted on the Senate slot and almost all agreed on the name of Rabbani because he fills the criteria as a constitutionalist. There is no point giving the seat to a compromising person.

Sharif also said that if PPP leader Asif Zardari refused to forward the name of Zardari, he said that if the case that be, they would find a person from their own party.

The former premier also said that the cases against him were part of a great game and the prosecution has failed to prove anything against him in the last six months.

He said that the NAB court has sought extension in adjudication the references against him and anything wrong had been done by him, it would have been proved in two months.

Answering a question about Robert Radley’s statement in the Avenfield properties case, Sharif said that his statement regarding Calibri font was in their favour.
