Islamabad, March 12 (TNS): The senators on Monday elected common nominee of PPP and PTI Sadiq Sanjrani as Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament.
Sanjrani bagged 57 votes out of 103 casted votes.
According to state media report, Presiding Officer Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob announced the triumph of Sanjrani following which lawmakers thumped the desks.
Ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-N supported candidate Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq secured 46 votes.
After result announcement, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob, Presiding Officer, administrated the oath to Sadiq Sanjrani as newly elected Chairman Senate.
Now the Usman Kakar of Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party and PPP’s Saleem Mandwiwal are the contestants for the Deputy Chairmanship.
