Jaya Bachchan may be India’s richest lawmaker

New Delhi, March 13 (TNS): Veteran actor and Samajwadi Party member Jaya Bachchan could be India’s richest MP, Indian media reported.

With declared assets worth INR 10,000 million, Jaya’s estimated wealth exceeds that of upper house MP Ravindra Kishore Sinha who declared assets worth  INR 8,000 million in 2014. Jaya is an SP candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls. The party is a noted political force in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier standing at  INR 4,930 million, her declared assets have increased since 2014. According to an affidavit, Jaya and husband Amitabh have immovable assets worth over INR 4,600 million. Their movable assets are valued at INR 5,400 million. The affidavit also revealed that the couple own INR 62o million worth of gold and jewellery. Amitabh alone owns jewellery worth Rs360 million.

The duo also own an enviable fleet of automobiles of 12 vehicles.These include a Rolls Royce, Porsche, Range Rover and three Mercedes. Amitabh also owns a Tata NANO and a tractor.

The Bachchans own a 3,175 square metre residential property in Brignogan Plage in France. They also have properties in Noida, Bhopal, Pune, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Jaya owns a 1.22 hectare agricultural plot worth INR 22 million in Lucknow’s Kakori area. Amitabh owns a three-acre plot worth INR 57 million in Daulatpur area of Barabanki district.
