ISLAMABAD March 16 2018 (TNS): A special court hearing the high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf has issued a written order asking the government to bring the fugitive former dictator back home and seize all his properties in Pakistan and the UAE if he fails to show up.

The special court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi also ordered the government to approach Interpol to bring Musharraf back so that the case could be taken up in his presence.

Musharaf’s counsel told the court that the interior and defence ministries have been requested to provide foolproof security to his client once he returns.

Musharraf is wanted to the court for declaring an emergency in November in 2007. Musharraf had left the country on medical grounds by submitting an affidavit in the court that he would return whenever he was summoned by the court. However, he failed to appear before the court despite several notices.
